Labrador Retriever - Large - Young - Male - Dog - Atticus (LO)
Description
* { font:inherit; } Please contact Kim (RedFernAnimalShelter@netscape.com) for more information about this pet.Atticus was named 'Time Out' during his very long stay at the vet's. He was starving...about two days from death...when we picked him up. We renamed him 'Atticus' after Atticus Finch in the hopes that he would grow into a fine dog. We chose his name well. As you can see from his pictures, he had hair loss, secondary skin infections, and a multitude of other ailments. And these pictures were taken after a long stay at the vet's and a month of excellent home care! Atticus didn't know how to play or do any of the things a puppy his age should know. All of his energy was spent looking for food and water (and dodging BBs). Since coming to live at Red Fern, Atticus has blossomed into quite a dog. He's a heartbreaker...that's for sure. His hair is beginning to grow back, and it looks as if he's going to have a beautiful coat. He has learned to play, and he has discovered that some people are good. He is still shy when meeting new people, but he is learning to trust. His only contact with people prior to our rescuing him had been at the end of a BB gun. If you choose to adopt Atticus, you must remember that you will be rescuing him every day for the rest of his life. He is worth it, though. He, along with his littermates, is the dog I would adopt if I could have one more. Atticus has not been neutered yet, and he will not be available for adoption until he is healthy enough for his surgery. In the meantime, Atticus would love to have a foster home in Weakley County so that he can continue his treatments under the care of a veterinarian with whom he is comfortable. If you are interested in fostering Atticus, please contact us at RedFernAnimalShelter@netscape.com.Thank you!
